Djerba Music Land

Djerba Music Land is a four-day outdoor music festival held each August on Djerba, Tunisia’s largest island. The festival brings together artists across pop, electronic, Tunisian folk, Maghrebi fusion, and Mediterranean sounds, performing across multiple stages set against the island’s flat coastal landscape. What to Expect

The festival runs across four evenings, typically from early August. Outdoor stages are set up at a dedicated venue on the island, with the open-air setting making the most of Djerba’s warm August nights. The genre range is broad: headliners in recent editions have included established Tunisian pop acts alongside newer regional artists and international guests. Earlier in each evening, local and emerging acts open the programme before the main performances.

Beyond the music, the festival grounds include food and drink areas, with vendors selling Tunisian street food alongside imported beverages. The atmosphere is sociable and informal — this is not a seated concert format, and the crowd moves freely between stages.

August is peak season on Djerba and accommodation books up quickly. If you are combining the festival with a beach stay — which makes sense given the timing — book accommodation well in advance. The island’s northern and eastern coasts have the highest concentration of resort hotels, while Houmt Souk, the main town, offers smaller guesthouses and riads closer to the medina.

Evenings in August remain warm, and the outdoor festival setting means you will want light clothing, comfortable shoes for standing through performances, and sun protection if you are arriving at the venue during daylight hours for early acts. Carry cash, as smaller vendors at outdoor festivals across Tunisia typically do not accept cards.
