Tunisair Adds Boeing 787-9 Widebody on Paris Orly Route
Tunisair has brought in a wet-leased Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to operate on its Paris Orly route ahead of the summer 2026 peak season, responding to increased demand on one of its busiest international corridors.
The 787-9 significantly expands passenger capacity compared to the narrowbody aircraft typically deployed on the route, with the Dreamliner configuration offering more than 280 seats in a dual-class layout. Wet leasing — where an airline leases the aircraft complete with crew, maintenance and insurance — allows Tunisair to respond quickly to seasonal demand without long-term fleet commitments.
The Tunisia–France corridor is one of the most trafficked in the Mediterranean, driven by a large Franco-Tunisian diaspora, sustained leisure tourism and growing cultural exchange. The Paris Orly–Tunis route is Tunisair’s flagship European service, and the capacity upgrade aims to ease pressure during the high-demand summer window from June through August.
What this means for travellers
Travellers flying between Paris and Tunis this summer are likely to find more available seats and, in competitive periods, more stable pricing as capacity increases. The Dreamliner’s cabin is designed for reduced cabin pressure, improved humidity and larger windows — factors that contribute to a more comfortable long-haul experience, even on a relatively short 2.5-hour hop.
Tunisia continues to attract European visitors to its Mediterranean beaches, ancient Roman ruins and Saharan landscapes. Coastal resorts including Hammamet and Sousse remain the most visited, alongside the medina of Tunis and the island of Djerba.
