Tunisia Adds Over 30 New Air Routes for Summer 2026

Tunisia’s aviation sector has seen its most significant schedule expansion in years for the summer 2026 season. More than 30 new air routes have started operating to and from Tunisia’s three main international airports - Tunis-Carthage, Djerba-Zarzis, and Monastir Habib Bourguiba - with new connections spanning western Europe, eastern Europe, the Balkans, and the Gulf.

Where the New Routes Are Coming From

The largest concentration of new services connects cities in France, Germany, and the UK to Djerba, reflecting continued strong demand from the North African diaspora and from European leisure travellers. Several low-cost operators from Poland, Czechia, and Serbia have added seasonal frequencies to Tunis this summer - countries that previously had limited or no direct service.

Gulf connections have also expanded, with new or restored routes from Saudi Arabia and Qatar pointing toward Tunisia’s growing appeal as a short-haul leisure destination for Gulf travellers. Domestic Tunisian carriers have added capacity on both the Tunisair mainline and TunisAir Express regional network to accommodate transfer passengers.

The figures represent a step-change in accessibility: in summer 2023, Tunisia received roughly 180 international scheduled frequencies per week at peak. That number is now closer to 230 across the three airports combined.

What It Means for Travellers

More routes generally translate to lower fares and more scheduling flexibility. The new Polish and Czech connections in particular open up direct access for travellers who previously had to route through Paris or Frankfurt - adding two to four hours to what is otherwise a three-hour journey.

Djerba is the principal destination driving leisure demand, and the new route additions make it easier to plan a short-break itinerary of five to seven nights. Tunis-Carthage continues to handle the broadest mix of carriers and is the better option for travellers planning to move around the country independently.
