Tunisia is the UK’s most popular all inclusive destination outside of the Canaries and Balearics. Direct flights from Manchester, Birmingham, Gatwick, and Bristol make it a short hop — Enfidha (for Hammamet) is around 2h 40m; Djerba is about 3h. Prices are significantly lower than Spain or Greece: a week at a 4-star all inclusive in Hammamet or Djerba typically runs £400–£700 per person in shoulder season from a UK operator, and the sea is warm from June through October.
The all inclusive format is deeply embedded in Tunisian resort culture. Hotels have been built and operated around it for 40 years, which means the infrastructure — buffets, bars, entertainment programmes, pools — is properly set up for it, not bolted on.
What’s included (and what isn’t)
A standard all inclusive in Tunisia covers:
- All meals — buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the main restaurant, often with themed nights and occasional specialty restaurants included
- Local drinks — Celtia beer, Tunisian wines (Magon, Selian), soft drinks, juices, and water at hotel bars, typically served 10am–midnight
- Pool and beach access — sun loungers and parasols at the pool and, where there’s a private beach, on the sand
- Basic entertainment — mini-club for children (ages 4–12 at most hotels), daytime activities (aqua gym, beach volleyball, archery), and evening shows
What’s not usually included:
- Imported spirits (gin, whisky, premium vodka) — these cost extra at most 4-star hotels; 5-star premium AI hotels like Rixos and some Iberostar properties may include them
- Spa and thalassotherapy treatments
- Motorised water sports
- Excursions and transfers beyond the hotel
Hammamet — the easiest from the UK
Hammamet is Tunisia’s original resort destination and the closest to Tunis-Carthage airport (60 km, around 45 minutes). Package tourists mostly stay in Yasmine Hammamet, a purpose-built resort zone 10 km south of Hammamet centre, with a marina, a waterpark, and a dense cluster of 4- and 5-star hotels on a decent sandy beach.

Best for: first-time visitors to Tunisia, families, anyone who wants easy access to Tunis and Carthage.
Djerba — island all inclusive
Djerba is Tunisia’s main resort island and a strong choice for a more complete holiday. The Zone Touristique stretches along the northeast of the island at Sidi Mahres beach — a long, sheltered stretch of pale sand with calm, shallow water that makes it the safest beach in Tunisia for children.
The island has genuine character beyond the hotel zone: Houmt Souk, El-Ghriba synagogue, the Erriadh street art village, and the pottery workshops at Guellala are all short taxi rides from any resort. The catch is getting there — flights from UK airports to Djerba-Zarzis (DJE) run seasonally (mainly April–October), and the journey is around 3 hours.

Sousse and Port El Kantaoui
Sousse combines resort infrastructure with a genuine Tunisian city: the UNESCO-listed medina, the ribat fortress, and a lively seafront promenade are all within a short taxi ride of the hotels. Port El Kantaoui, about 10 km north of Sousse centre, is a purpose-built tourist marina with a cluster of beach hotels and a golf course.
This zone tends to be slightly cheaper than Djerba or Yasmine Hammamet for comparable quality, making it a good mid-range choice.

Monastir — budget-friendly and quick to reach
Monastir is the most affordable of Tunisia’s main resort areas. The beach strip at Skanes sits directly alongside Habib Bourguiba International Airport, meaning transfer times are often under 10 minutes. Hotels are mostly 3-star and 4-star properties that offer the most accessible all inclusive pricing in Tunisia.

When to go
May–June and September–October are the best months for an all inclusive holiday in Tunisia. Sea temperatures are 23–27°C, air temperatures sit at a manageable 28–32°C, and prices are 25–40% lower than peak summer. These months also tend to have better flight availability from smaller UK regional airports.
July–August is peak season — the hotels are full, prices peak (especially for UK school holidays), and temperatures in July can exceed 38°C inland. Beach temperatures are pleasant, but the midday heat is intense. Book at least three to four months ahead for peak summer.
April suits travellers who want lower prices and quieter resorts; the sea is on the cool side for swimming (around 20°C) but the weather is good for exploring.
November to March: most resort hotels operate at reduced capacity or close entirely for refurbishment. Not recommended for a beach all inclusive holiday.
